Nadia S. Akaweih

Nadia is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center’s Global Health Law LL.M program, with a focus on patent law, where she served as a member of the Women of Color Collective, Georgetown Arab Lawyers Association, and Student Intellectual Property Law Association.  

Nadia received her Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where she served as an Executive Board Member of the Moot Court Honor Society. She also served on the board for the International Trademark Association Student Academics Committee (INTA), Intellectual Property Law Association (IPLA), and Middle Eastern Law Society Association (MELSA). While in law school, Nadia was a recipient of the Sidney B. Williams Jr. Intellectual Property Law Scholarship, awarded to encourage minority science, engineering, and law students to seek careers in intellectual property law. 

While in law school, Nadia gained experience drafting patents for low-income inventors in the Small Business Law Center. Nadia also served as a student patent examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office where she analyzed patent applications directed towards cancer treatment methods and/or therapeutic compositions. In addition, Nadia interned at Maxwell Technologies working in conjunction with a leading national patent law firm, Knobbe Martens. At Maxwell, Nadia managed and developed Maxwell’s rapidly growing international patent portfolio, which led her to open her own IP practice.
